Samuel Gross, MD

Samuel GrossDr. Gross received undergraduate degrees in Biology and Chemistry at Bowdoin College, an MA in Experimental Embryology at Amherst College and his medical degree at the University of Rochester. Notably, he also served in the US Marine Air Corps in the China-Pacific Theatre. Dr. Gross served as Intern, Resident and Fellow in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology, Case Western Reserve University, at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland, OH. From 1958 to 1981, Dr. Gross was Professor of Pediatrics as well as Co-Director of the Cancer Rehab Center and Co-Director of University-wide Bone Marrow Transplantation Program Case Western Reserve at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, Director of Children's Cancer Study Group, and Assistant Dean for Education. In 1981, Dr. Gross became Professor of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology, Co-Director of University-wide Bone Marrow Transplantation and Fellowship Training Director, Director of Pediatric Oncology Group at the University of Florida's Shands Hospital, Gainesville, FL, and in 1993, he became Emeritus Professor. During his career, he has authored or co-authored 220 peer reviewed publications and has been a contributor or primary author of 9 textbooks in hematology, oncology, and stem purging. From 1993-1995, Dr. Gross served as Director of the Walt Disney Memorial Cancer Center at Florida Hospital and Distinguished Professor of Chemistry University of Central Florida. Until recently, he was Clinical Professor of Medical Education University of North Carolina and Duke University Medical Center.
